    Problem with Kubuntu installation...

I installed Kubuntu in my laptop(Hp Compaq nc6230).

It had problems with hsync and vsync values. There were no hsync and vsync. So I changed the /etc/X11/xorg.conf

    Added an enties

    horizontal 31.5-48.5

    vertical 40-70

rebooted the system and found that it got hung up while checking the batteries. So I went into rescue mode.

Even after changing the entries xserver did not start. I have attached the log in this mail can you just get help from anyone?

Ubuntu 5.1 live cd was able to detect my screen and was able to bring up the screen.

Just let me know what to do. I don’t have internet.

Your log didn't show up, but it might not matter. The proper way to change HorizSync and VertRefresh is to use the command "sudo dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg". Use expert mode and answer the questions when asked. If you don't know an answer, the defaults are usually safe. If you have trouble, we can do it the easy way and edit the file by hand
