    2. what driver have you got? The "make and model" suggests it's version 1.5, whereas the current one is 2.2. If you have precisely followed the instructions on the ubuntu help page you should have the newer version. Is there a newer driver available if you select "change" against make and model?

Can I suggest you re-run the commands on the ubuntu page noting very carefully any error messages you see at the end of each one. Keep the terminal open throughout the process. When finished highlight everything in the terminal, right click and select copy and then paste it into a text file. If it doesn't work after you have done everything you can attach the text file to a posting here. There are many people here far more knowledgeable than I am who may be able to point you in the right direction, but without the error messages they have little, if anything, to go on.
I think my drivers version is 2.2
I added and deleted printer 3 times..
Because from the menu I had 3 choices: lbp2900, lbp 2900 English and lbp2900 CAPT…

Neither one worked…It’s third day with printer problem… I guess I will have same problems with my webcam

Yesterday colleague from other forum, remotely accessed my comp and tried to install printer, it took some hours but he couldn’t resolve the problem.
So, he advised me to install fedora xfce…
Today I will try to resolve the problem again with xubuntu and if I cannot succeed than I will install fedora….
He suggests that fedora is very good with hardware…

I suspect your webcam will be fine

Install the package "cheese" and run it - with a bit of luck you will see your face in the screen.

Good luck with the fedora thing - however bear in mind that all linux distros (and I think Macs too) use the same printing system - Cups- so whilst I wish you success with Fedora I still think worry about the printer.

If you have an expert with remote access to your machine that can be worth a thousand postings so let us know how you get on, even if it's with another distro. Fedora is a very good one btw.

One of the problems with Linux. Overwhelm the new, curious Linux user until they give up. Because, at the end of the day, the guy just wants his printer to work. I'm sure this guy's acquaintance from the other website means well, but it's going to have the opposite effect of what was intended.

Of course, it's not Linux's responsibility to make sure it runs with every hardware configuration out there...
