ok do these in order and hit enter after eatch one

set root=(hd0,1)

then

linux /vmlinuz root=/dev/sda1 ro

then

initrd /initrd.img

then

boot

if all goes well when you hit entr after boot it should.......boot

so a few more questions before I mark this as SOLVED!

will i need to do this for each boot? (im ok with no because it's like a SUPER password)

can I make it auto boot again and how?



and then off topic, but how can I add something to that list of modules to load on startup? i need to manually start my soundcard driver... or whatever the correct terminology is.

woe...slow down ....we are not shure what hapend yet....and it may not be fixed ......but now that we are in ....... do

sudo update-grub

from a terminal then

try a reboot and see what hapens

but be prepared to do all that hocess pocess agin.
