[RESOLVED] Target System doesn't have requested /sbin/init

    Hello!

Please I am not able to boot to my kubuntu 10.10 system. After issuing the command: "sudo reboot now", I started to receive a black screen at the boot time with the following messages

mount: mounting /dev on /root/dev failed: No such file or directory
mount: mounting /sys on /root/sys failed: No such file or directory
mount: mounting /proc on /root/proc failed: No such file or directory
Target System doesn't have requested /sbin/init

Please, anyone knows how to solve this issue? I am not able to boot anymore. Currently i am using the live cd to access my hard drive.

Thanks in advance for your help,
    TornadoKubuntu

If you boot without the CD in, do you get the grub menu?

Re: [Booting Problem] - Target System doesn't have requested /sbin/init

I solved the issue by the following steps:

      1. I tested the memory using the Kubuntu Live CD.
      2. Then, I tested the Hard Drive for errors using several tools starting with Gparted.
      3. I corrected the detected errors.
      4. Then from the Grub menu i chose the recovery mode.
      5. On the next boot, i chose the normal mode where everything return to its normal state.

I hope my experience through this problem would help others in solving their problems too.
