[SOLVED] can't connect with wireless connection and no security

Hi all,

I am new to Kubuntu although I have some working experience of the terminal and bash. My distribution is Maverick Meerkat and I'm using an ASUS EEEpc.

I am trying to setup a wireless connection. It used to work fine with WEP encryption, then I turned encryption off so that anyone can use it. Now on other computers the wifi connection runs fine, but on my laptop I can't connect. Any idea what might be wrong ?

Oh I forgot to add : I have turned off MAC filtering.

My connection parameters on the newtork assistant are the following :

SSID ghostbuster
Mode Ad-hoc
BSSID _:_:_:_:_:_
Restrict to Interface Any
MTU Automatic
^^^^^^^^^^^^ WIreless security ^^^^
Security None ^^^^^^^^^^^^
^^^^^^^^^^^ IP Address ^^^^^^^^^^
Method : Automatic (DHCP)

Ok now the window Secrets for ghostbuster shows up

I answer Security " none

then it shows up again two more times and that's it . No connection

click the networkmanager icon in the system tray ......click manage connections........click the wireless tab remove all of them then start fresh.

click the networkmanager icon and you should see the ghostbuster network click it and conect.

it asking for window Secrets seams like it's still trying to use encryption.

their was a bug at one time in knetworkmanager (one of the earley 4. ver.)wear you HAD to redo the wireless conection like that every time .
