    [solved]new install can't log in

    ok first off i am brand new to kubuntu


    so i dowload the kubuntu 10.10 32 bit today put it on a usb pen drive and install it set it to auto login first

    but i just does the endless loop login so i format and install again thinking i did something wrong this time i

    chose the require password to log in and i get the same thing so i come to the forums and read about some

    things to do but i have come to the conclusion that i have NO idea what i am doing cant even get into the

    recovery console tried the Esc no luck there tried alt f2 no luck

    it works great off the usb drive boots just fine runs great i am going to try to install it after it boots from the usb

    next to see if that does the trick

    did not check to install 3rd party
    did not check download updates

    anyway system is...

    desktop

    3400+ amd 32 bit

    VIA S3 UniChrome, On Board Graphic Max. Memory Share Up to 64MB

    2 GB ram

    will be 2: 2 TB sata and 2: 750 sata

    with a 120 GB ide for the system

    i just have the 120 GB plugged in now

    have no cd/dvd drive in it

    installing from usb pendrive

    will not dual boot

    if i forgot anything let me know

    that was it .... it was the video driver i dint really fix it but i had an old pci video card laying around slapped it in and it boots great now thanks for the info

    I guess this is a display driver issue, try google this: "ubuntu via s3 unichrome login loop". Come back here if you have found the solution
