I want to install Kubuntu on MSI MS-9130 K8T-Master motherboard with Dual Opteron 246. I need your advice on choosing proper version of Kubuntu that supports Dual Opteron 64bit.
Boot from a Live CD, and see which flavors you might like. You can start with the stable version Lucid Lynx 10.04 64 bit and see how smooth that goes. I hear lucid is awesome.
Take the time to test things out before you make a fresh install. Do things you would normally do on an actual install. If everything seems to go smooth you should proceed, assuming you like 10.4 or perhaps another flavor. It good practice to test OS's before making a clean install, to see if you like them and check if there are any software or hardware issues.
