    Lucid Lynx: No sound output.

    Hello,
I am new to kubuntu, just switched from Fedora.
    I am using Kubuntu 10.04. KDE 4.4.2
My laptop Sony Vaio-vpcee23fx. AMD vision, 64 bit.

There is no sound output at all. It recognizes the sound card. It plays the music or videos without any trouble, there is just no sound output that I can hear. Neither in the main speaker or through the headphone jack.

The speakers and everything works fine while on Win 7.

Any suggestion/concerns will be appreciated. Thank you.

open the mixer in your system tray and under SETTINGS select CONFIGURE CHANNELS. Then enable all of them and make sure their not muted and the slider bars are up. Once you figure out which channels you need, you can remove the others.

Thank you, but I have already tried it myself. No result.

I have more than 20 channels so either your audio setup is seriously wrong or you haven't enabled all the channels.

Well, thats all I get whenever I open Kmix.
          Any suggestion what to do?
          How can I update Kmix?

Well, I tried few other ways from here- https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Me...u#Introduction
            And here- http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=205449

But so far no luck. I can still 'play' all my music and videos (all formats that I have) in all the players I have (dragon, amarok and vlc), I just dont hear any sound output, neither in my speaker or headphone.

I downloaded alsamixer (which I didnt have by default) and after that the mixer looks like the pictures attached. I volumed up all of those.

Note- I didnt have any sound problem when I was on Fedora (Fedora 10, later updated it to 12 and had it for a month or so until I switched to Kubuntu).

right click on the kmix system icon , and click "select Master channel" select your audio device. im guessing it set to the hdmi device (mine does it also)
