    Chill.

It's only asking what app you want the download to be associated with. If you use Firefox and you have downloaded a webpage and want it to be opened later and looked at using Firefox - choose an association with Firefox.

It's one time only. (Unless you later change the association)

Well, you have to open the web page with some programme. Dolphin merely asks you with which programme it should open the html page you saved. Just tell it what to do.

So u mean that if I select FF it closes without additional asking?
But if I download any pages, why "it" simply don't do the job aka "downloading page" and instead of that it asks me such sicknesses ?

If I chose save a page, I mean save a page to disk, do not disturb with additional asks of opening it...

When I'll want to open that page, I'll open it by right button click and chose any browser or whatever else. By it's frustrating after saving a page, close many times such modal windows :-|

        Anyway, thanx for the reply

P.S. And is it possible to set in Dolphine settings or wherever something like - when I saved a page, I meant just save page and that's all...

P.S.2: when I mentioned I was gonna check it, just see if it is in the folder, not trying to open it

MOST of the time it will know what to do with things. For example .isos will get opened by K3b, .debs will get opened by Gdebi and so on

SOME of the time things can be opened by SOME apps. For example, my association for .pdfs is OpenOffice. So if I just click on the .pdf it will open in OpenOffice. But if I RIGHT click it will say "Open with>" and I can choose ePDFViewer or Adobe Reader etc. ALL .pdfs are associated by me and will normally open in OpenOffice.

SOME of the time it does not know what to do with some things. Then we have to tell it...

Once you have made an association it should apply to all files of that type and it should not ask you again.

I do understand what u mean but:
I just move my mouse in the folder of just downlaoded htm files and that s...y window apperade I didn't click on it. And my mouse hw is ok - like if I lightly touch the left button, mouse is ok, I didn't click on it anyway

It seems like any 'hover' function would b on...

I'll watch it and try to guess where is the bug or whatever

If it's an .html you should associate it with some browser, whether Firefox. Konqueror, Chrome, Chromium or whatever you have.

                As I told I'll be watching it ! :P
And definitely now I can say the silly disturbing appears when I move my mouse pointer above any .htm or .html page

It didn't help even I set the Dolphine settings -> Preview set only jpg images. So I have to think it must be hooked somewhere else.
Can anybody help, where I can forbid in Dolphine to previewing (just the html), pls ?

                Thanx!

I do not think it's important of my mother languages

Maybe it's not clear for 'someone' that when I move with my mouse pointer above a .htm page file inside Dolphine (not clicking on that file), it yelled that screen window. Even I set which browser should be used for opening, it doesn't change anything on it that I don't want it open.
When my mouse poiinter move over a jpg file, a small screen/preview window will appear. What is ok due I've set it in the Dolphine settings in Preview tab.

Never mind, when I'll find the answer, I'll place it here for those, who are seekin', not pi...g.

                    Thanx for endeavor to help.

Oh, I have managed to reproduce the same problem on my Kubuntu (10.10/KDe 4.5.3) installation. This is frustrating indeed.

Following are the steps to reproduce the complained behaviour:

                      1. Download a web page or any *.html file from the web to desktop.
                      2. Open Dolphin, and go into the directory where you've downloaded the *.html file.
                      3. Just move the mouse pointer over that html file (don't right/left/middle click on it).

And voila, you'll get several dialogs of KIO_Thumbnail, asking you what to do with that html file.

I found out that this happens only if the Information/Preview panel is shown. Therefore it is happening because Dolphin is trying to create a preview of the html file for Information/Preview panel.

So there is at least a temporary workaround (till someone come up with a better workaround or THE solution): Hiding the Information/Preview panel will temporarily disable that behaviour.

                      Regards.

Sounds like a bug has been discovered, and if not already reported, should be.

Re: Frustrating window still opening, pls help ! [CLOSED]

I think it may also have to do with the actual content on the page. I do not get this using any of my local html files or any kubuntuforums page I have saved so far.

But a page I somehow saved from mediafire downloading a dos boot disk image, I get this every time. It basically all javascript trying to allow you to use a facebook/twitter login, as well as determining that my browser is not IE and therefore needs an upgrade

So it is definitely the preview running the code on the page. it not asking what to open the page with, it is asking what to use to open whatever the javascript is trying to download or run.

so my suggestion is to do as oblivion says and disable the preview pane as well as using Previews from within Dolphin itself - the OP doesn't seem to be from the screenshot.

But I definitely would take care to know what is on the pages being saved. Especially if the OP is downloading things from dubious sources.
(and use more blur to hide the downloaded files listed > )
My eyes are bad, but not that bad lol!

I used the light blur just for 1 reason - to point to the most important window, in the centre, not be rushed with other stuff around, got it ??

And as for the htm pages, they're are classic/everyday daily-news site downloaded pages, wake up...!!

Well, I tested it here. Followed your directions above. Went to www.medifire.com and saved that page to my Desktop folder. Opened Dolphin and changed to that folder. Clicked on Preview and moved my mouse on and off the file several times. Nothing. Nada. However, when I right-clicked to select Move to Trash, the dialog windows appeared.

That my mouse, when the pointer is moved onto the file, doesn't trigger the observed result makes me think that it isn't the Information/Preview that is causing this, but the focus settings.
