google earth bin install from console help

    google earth bin install from console help

    so i downloaded GoogleEarthLinux.bin and tried to install it via chmod as i found googling install mehod.

    i did

    cdhmod +x GoogleEarthLinux.bin

    nothing seemed to happen, it didnt report anything but i noticed the file name turned green after a quick ls command.

    then i did

    ./GoogleEarthLinux.bin

    and got this response:


    Verifying archive integrity... All good.
    Uncompressing Google Earth for GNU/Linux 5.2.1.1588........................................ ......................
    setup.data/setup.xml:1: parser error : Document is empty

    ^
    setup.data/setup.xml:1: parser error : Start tag expected, '<' not found

    ^
    Couldn't load 'setup.data/setup.xml'




    What went wrong, and how do i fix it?

    Follow the Tombuntu How to Install Google Earth in Ubuntu 10.04 Method 2: googleearth-package. This will build an appropriate .deb package that you will then use to install GoogleEarthLinux from.
    Windows no longer obstructs my view.
