Playstation eye microphone not working on Kubuntu 10.10

Hi Guys,

I've recently installed version 10.10 and I really like it apart from a few issues like this one. I have a Playstation Eye usb webcam that has a really nice beam microphone in it which allows me to insult my friends (or any what I have left) on skype quite nicely. It worked fine with ubuntu 10.10 but for some reason not Kubuntu.

I've tried setting it as the overall default capture device but it keeps reverting back to my sound card (maybe I need root permissions or something?) and after trying to sort it out for a few hours I gave up and could do with your help as I'm not a Linux expert or anything.

Any help would be most appreciated!

When does it revert- as soon as you click apply or sometime later?
I had a similar problem with my PS2 Eyetoy, which was fixed after I rebooted with the camera plugged in.
