i cant get vlc to play dvds i installed the extra codecs, libdvdcss2,and libdvdread3 unfortunately it still wont play im using kubuntu 10.10 x86_64

How are you trying to play the DVDs? In VLC, I use Media>Open Disc>DVD and it works without errors.

im am using vlc 1.1.4 and kubuntu 10.10 iv also tried other media players like dragon,and kaffeine and im having the same problem it says on kaffeine it cant read the dvd.Comment

obvious question but have you tried multiple different DVDs?

Mine shows up in the file manager. Two folders, AUDIO_TS and VIDEO_TS. AUDIO_TS is empty.Comment
