problem w/ kubuntu64 and nforce 5200

Having problem with nforce 5200 not showing proper graphics on start up of kubuntu 64. looks like a video driver problem. Can anyone help
Running MSI k8t neo mother board, 1 gig corsair memory.
Tried running under safe graphics mode, different vga settings, etc. Still get the same scrambled graphics start up.

Do you wind up with a black screen, a postage stamp sized image, wiggly colored lines, (all different problems) or what?
