So the normal keyboard shortcuts for copy and paste are Control-C and Control-V, respectively.
The terminal is a bit different, though. To paste in the terminal, you press Shift-Insert instead of Control-V.
And, no, there isn't a way to safely write to NTFS from Kubuntu.
