    package architecture error I have a 64bit system for the python one and curses depends on that one

      Okay. Just put the python-urwid_0.9.9.1-1_amd64.deb in the Downloads area.

          Is Wicd Network Manager in K > Internet ? Does it launch?

            Yes it does, but when I click connect it says connecting for a long time and then says unable to obtain IP address

              What does your /etc/network/interfaces file contain?

                    Sorry on such a late response since my pcs internet doesn't work access to both my pc and the web simultaneously has been hard to get, etc/hosts displays the following---
                    127.0.0.1<Tab>localhost
                    127.0.1.1<Tab>IanD

                    # The following lines are desirable for IPv6 capable hosts
                    ::1 localhost ip6- localhost ip6-loopback
                    fe00::0 ip6-localnet
                    ff00::0 ip6-mcastprefix
                    ff02::1 ip6-allnodes
                    ff02::2 ip6-allrouters
                    ff02::3 ip6-allhosts

                      Your /etc/hosts file only contains the localhost IP (127.0.0.1). There is no entry for the (assigned) IP to your router that a networkmanager is supposed to have added.

                          How does your PC connect to the Internet (when it did):

                          1) with a dial-up modem
                          2) with a router
                          3) with a cable-modem
                          4) I don't know
