last time i logged in on my computer, i installed gdesklets, a programme that was supposed to allow me to monitor my network usage. i logged back in today, and there was an error message about one of the dependencies that it was using, so i deleted the dependency.
however, my computer now thinks that it is ubuntu. it looks like it, and the command
now tells me that i am using Ubuntu 10.04 LTS, though i have only ever installed Kubuntu 10.04.
both the log-in and log-off screens are the Kubuntu 10.04 versions
reverting back to old kernals does not start up kubuntu
what have i done, and how do i get back to Kubuntu?
i have since uninstalled gdesklets but this has not solved the problem
Note: all my programmes are kubuntu programmes, such as kate, konsole, dolphin etc
HOW TO FIX:
the issue was that the desktop session had changed to GNOME
you have to log out and change the session type to a KDE session
