    Microsoft guy here... diving in

    I'm interested in loading kubuntu.
One of the few things I NEED to know before I make the plunge...

Does the email client for kubuntu allow you to separate email accounts into their own folders?
I teach, and I make my students email me their homework.
I use Outlook, and POP email from gmail.
I have 4 class email addresses, as well as a personal email address.
Each email address is automatically saved to it's own folder, and my regular email shows up in my inbox.
For example, I have an IS318 email address/class folder, and when students send email to is318@gmail.com, the email automatically appears in my IS318 folder.

Can kubuntu do something like this?

Sure. In kmail/kontact (the default email client/PIM suite in kubuntu), you can set a target folder for incoming mail for each individual account in their settings.

And, If you don't like KMail ( ) you can always use Thunderbird.

You can also set up a folder hierarchy and use a filter on some sort of tag to funnel them automatically into the correct folders. (IF the subject line contains "[Physics 1]", for example.)

One thing for sure, while you are not around your students won't be breaking into your computer!
