Changing the image shown during the boot of kubuntu??more likely...

Hi well long time since i dont work with kubuntu since i got stuck with kubuntu 9.04 that was pretty good but i gotta say i got impressed by the new kubuntu 10.4 lts, to be honest at the beginning i saw it pretty difficult cause since they changed the interface options (like themes) either way i just found my way around and now i use it as my main OS.

But i had a prob, since i updated from kubuntu 9.04 to kubuntu 10.4 my grub is 1.5 instead of the new grub that comes out with kubuntu 10.4 installing with cd.

So the thing is that when i boot up my computer it appears the messege starting ext3 hd0,0 bla bla and its like 5 secs of that and then 1 sec of the Kubuntu image and then the login, so i just wanted to know if there is anyway to hide the ext3 thing and show the kubuntu image loading instead, so it can take 6 sec with the image of kubuntu loading.(Im sorry if i didnt made my point clear...English is not my mother language ^^)

    Thanks. Cheers kira.

    P.D.

If needed tell me to post the menu.lts of the grub cause i suppose there is where i got to change the settings, thanks.

I had a similar problem going from 9.04 to 9.10 with Grub. I used synaptic to install grub-pc and grub=common. Also and Kernel updates were not showing under the old grub

Preventing the text information during boot will not give you more time seeing the boot splash (what appears before the KDM login). In fact, sometimes the boot splash doesn't show at all before the KDM login. On my laptop, when it does show, it does so for a very short period of time before the KDM login screen appears. I don't worry about it, as it has no affect on the operation of the OS.
