    Kmail Replacement?

I think I need a replacement for KMail. It works much better since I cut down my email store from 6G to a bit under 3G; you may want to see my previous notes:

    http://kubuntuforums.net/forums/inde...opic=3108467.0

    Now on Kubuntu 10.04

But recently it's stopped playing well with Akonadi. While I can see my contacts, I no longer get a choice of my saved contacts when I go to create an email. It never starts up well; I always have to start akonadi, start kmail, then shut down kmail, then start it again. I can't seem to fix this; I even tried completely uninstalling kmail and reinstalling it. Even before I moved my email store back into place I still had the problem.

I've decided to move on to another MUA (mail user app; that's what kmail is). But because I tend to save a lot of mail, I still want Maildir.

Any suggestions for a KMail replacement?

    Thanks.

    Jeff

Have you seen/read my HOWTO Configure KDE and Akonadi so it just works?

        claws-mail.
I haven't looked back to anything else since installing!
Maybe I'm simple minded, but claws-mail does everything I need,
and is hands down faster than anything I've seen. (gui that is)

          @Snowhog,

I'm trying... but I'm getting Akonadi Not Operational errors at the first step:
Click on Add... and click on Akonadi Address Books
Perhaps because I have no idea how to stop Akonadi; I just used killall until it all went away.

Where do I go from here?

          Thanks.

Thanks! From what I've seen it looks good and it may very well do what I need. Can I install it from the package manager or must I do a manual install?

Is it hard, easy, somewhere in the middle, to do the conversions. I've seen instructions somewhere on having to rename all the mail files. I've got tens of thousands.

              Re: Kmail Replacement?

I normally use aptitude from the terminal. so this is how I get it installed:

              Code:
              sudo aptitude install claws-mail
Also, save your Mail and .claws-mail folders in a compressed file. That's how you backup your claws-mail configuration.
Then if you install it on another system, just recover those two files and your good to go.

                Thanks, again.

Know anything about instructions for importing the Kmail repository?
