    kubuntu, sip (voip) and microphone.....

    hello folks

i can use a plugged in microphone to record (via audacity etc) and it appears to work (not great, but ok).

i try and use said microphone in same input jack, same settings etc etc for use in a sip session (linphone, twinkle etc) and it just will not work - no audio/speech for folks at t'other end to hear!

had it working on Ekiga when using Gnome (Ubuntu) i think [hehehe] when i tried that version (been trying them all (ubuntu, kubuntu, xubuntu, lububntu......)

any ideas what i am doing wrong in Kubuntu and why no microphone output from any softphone?

    thank you for any help.

Open alsamixer in a Konsole and hit F5. See if you have a "digital" slider and if so run it up to 95% Also check for a PCM slider and do the same.
