spore on wine

I am trying to install spore on wine. I have never used wine before, although I have used Ubuntu and Fedora since 2006. I am running into trouble when i hit the installer buttons. When I click on SPORESetup.exe I get the error

The file '/media/SPORE/SPORESetup.exe' is not marked as executable. If this was downloaded or copied form an untrusted source, it may be dangerous to run. For more details, read about the executable bit.

when I try to install from the terminal, It tells me no such file exists.

Spore is listed on PlayOnLinux as installable. PlayOnlinux is Wine and a few more whistles and bells.

I think that PlayOnLinux appears in the Repository from Karmic. If you have any trouble installing it go to http://www.playonlinux.com/en/download.html , choose Ubuntu and get the relevant deb.

Then go PlayOnLinux>Install>Games>Spore

thanks, should I uninstall wine then, or just keep it. also i get this tex-common error, what can i do about that. I searched everywhere and get dpkg commands to try that give me the same error.

Just keep it. PlayOnLinux will install the latest Wine anyway.
