LIRC Setup

Hi all,

I've been struggling with setting up LIRC for a while now. I have a Intel motherboard with onboard CIR header and homebrew receiver. Got it working perfectly in Windows with my Yamaha remote. I can't seem to get it working in Linux.

Does anyone maybe have a step-by-step guide or link on how I can correctly configure Lirc? I've been browsing and reading forums for a while now, problem is I'm completely new to linux, so I'm having difficulty understanding some of the posts.

PC Info:
Kubuntu 10.04 (lucid) (installed with Wubi from Windows 7)
Intel X58SO ("Smackover") Mobo (I think it has Winbond WEC1022 CIR header)
Intel Core i7 920 CPU
6Gb DDR3 RAM
ASUS Nvidia Geforce GTS250 512mb

I can find little info about this in lirc's mailing lists, but maybe asking for help there might help if no one here has any experience with your tranceiver chip.
