[SOLVED] Replacements for some stuff that I need

Are there any decent programs similar to Photoshop and Dreamweaver that I could run properly on Kubuntu 10.04 without having to use Wine? Also, is there something I could replace Apache with, since I can't get it working.

    Thanks,

Re: Replacements for some stuff that I need

Gimp can do almost everything Photoshop can. As far as I know only some very specialized things with preparing colors for printing shops are not (yet) possible in Gimp.

There is no Dreamweaver for Linux.
I use Quanta Plus, but that's still based on KDE 3.5. There seem to be plans to port it to KDE 4. And maybe it will run on KDE 4. I had KDE 4 for a few days and it seemed to run, though I didn't use it intensive. Quanta is a html/css/another-100-languages-editor
Some people like Bluefish, also an editor for html etc. Have no experience with it.

A wysiwyg-editor is Kompozer. It's less sophisticated then Dreamweaver, but for most people it's good enough.

Some people like Aptana Studio, also available for Linux, but I've no experience with that. It looks good.

Edit: I didn't know the page GreyGek links too. Have something to read tonight :P
One addition: If you choose for a wysiwyg-editor you shouldn't take nvu. Kompozer is exactly the same program, only newer. nvu has not been updated for years. In fact Kompozer is the replacement of nvu, but because of juridical things they had to change name.

          1. Any ideas about a replacement for CorelDRAW?
          2. Flash...what version would work on kubuntu 10.04?

OpenOffice Draw is in the repository.

Among many other things you can "Use DRAW's free ability to create Flash (.swf) versions of your work."

If you need a web server only for programming, you can use lighttpd from repository
Kubuntu 16.04 on two computers and Kubuntu 17.04 on DELL Latitude 13

If you'd like a more KDE-style draw program, I would recommend at least trying Krita. Especially with Krita 2.2, there has been a large effort on the part of the Krita team to make it a very suitable drawing application: http://www.kubuntu.org/news/koffice-2.2

I suppose it depends on what you used Draw for, though.

Re: Replacements for some stuff that I need

Gimp does everything I need. I also found OpenOffice Draw to be very suitable for some technical drafting projects in school, but YMMV.

                          lighttpd should do well
                          and OpenOffice Draw is fine.
If the gimp had all the layer blending options and filters I wouldn't need photoshop anymore. Damn thing needs 1gb RAM
I'm running the other stuff on virtualbox now

Not to be argumentative, and I'm absolutely NOT any kind of graphics artist, but gimp has layers and filters out the wazoo, for example:

                            http://www.gimp.org/tutorials/Photo_To_Sketch/

I dunno what all you can do with it -- I have read that it is not quite the equal of Photoshop. They're both well beyond any capabilities I have.

There are one or two things Photoshop can which Gimp can not. AFAIK it only matters for graphics professionals, but I don't know enough to say.
