Newbie needs help with Thunderbird [SOLVED!]

    Hi folks,
I prefer Thunderbird mail, I downloaded it into my downloads folder and unpacked it but
I can only run it by opening the folder and clicking on a file called thunderbird.
I imported my home folder from the previous linux installation so in the hidden files I have a folder
    labelled .thunderbird
Should I copy all the new files in to this folder ?
If not how do I create an icon link to my new folder it?

Assuming you are using kubuntu 10.04 and want to use TB 3.1(There is a 3.0 version in the repos) follow this simple guide:
    - right click on k-menu->menu editor->new element->name it Thunderbird 3.1 (or whatever) give it an icon->in the command line navigate to your TB folder and choose thunderbird.->place your element under "Internet" (or where ever)->save.

On starting TB will see your .thunderbird folder in /home/yourusername.

    Hope this helps, enjoy
