    desktop enviroment

im trying to change the appearance of my desktop - iv gone through all the stuff in system settings but how do i download themes from kde-look? everytime i try to download something it either takes me to a screenshot of it or an error page.

Also, what are teh different parts id have to download? I gather there are:

    window decorators
    colour scemes
    icon
    mouse theme

do i need to download and intall these one by one or do "themes" include all of this?

Also when "themes" say beryl emerald or compiz - will they only work with certain window managers?

and one last question - is there some command that will show me all my system config info, ie what versian of kde i have, what window manager im using and all that?

Well, for plasma themes, which are your taskbar and desktop panels, go to

System Settings -> Appearance -> Workspace Tab

You'll be able to download new themes by going to "Get New Themes" - that will open a window that lets you install as many themes as you'd like, and by default the server you're downloading from is kde-look.

It works the same for icons under the Icons tab in system settings. Ditto for colors.

I believe that some themes do in fact only work with specific window managers, and some are run through programs like Dekorator (which I haven't personally used, tbh).
