Setting cent sign (¢) on Alt Gr 6

I am currently using the generic 104-key keyboard, with QWERTY+euro (as well as Dvorak, etc.), so I get the euro sign (€) when I press Alt Gr 5 (which is nicely printed on my Zareason Teo keyboard).

I'm looking to add some characters to my keyboard, using Alt Gr. Specifically, I want the cent sign (¢) when I press "Alt Gr 6", and maybe the Pound sign, degree sign, etc. I want this to be a GLOBAL change, usable under everything in Kubuntu Lucid 10.04, not just certain programs. If there is a post here or a web page somewhere that explains it, please point me to it, as I haven't found anything in my searches.

If I know how to do the cent sign, I'll probably be able to figure out the others. Thank you very much in advance for the help!

One way to do this is to modify the key with xmodmap.

Yikes, that looks like a doozy, but I'll figure it out.

But, my main question is: will that (xmodmap) work globally in Kubuntu?

Setting cent sign (¢) on Alt Gr 6 (still need advice)

I'm still no-go on this small alteration. Does anyone else have any other advice? I'm currently using my Compose key to do ¢. If I get no reply, I'll assume there's no easy or moderate way to do it. Thanks for your time.

I wish the Kubuntu System Settings had a more advanced capability (for those who want it)—where you could change keymaps in the System Settings.

Setting cent sign (¢) on Alt Gr 6 -- xkeycaps

For anyone who cares to set their own keys easily, I just found the package "xkeycaps." It's ancient and rough, but it looks like that will do it…

Sorry for the delay, I've been out of town.

The answer to "But, my main question is: will that (xmodmap) work globally in Kubuntu?" is yes if you choose it to. It can be configured to have both global key defs. and user key defs.
