USB Keyboard and Mouse doesn't work after automatic login

For some reason, my USB Keyboard and Mouse no longer work after the automatic login event - I have to unplug them and then plug them in again for the keyboard and mouse to work. As far as I know, I haven't made any system changes other than the automatic bug fixes that gets downloaded and installed automatically.

EDIT: Actually, they do end up being recognized and work after a significant number of time has passed. This is unlike before where they work immediately after login - what could be the cause of this delay?

Start in your log files - /var/log/messages.

Look for when USB gets loaded vs. log in.

Also, try disabling autologin and see if your keyboard/mouse is available before log in. I would have a live CD handy in case they're not!!!

Both the USB keyboard and mouse were working properly today when I turned on the computer...
