I have a Harddisk USB in my Kubuntu pc and I need to see this disk in a windows network, how to set this up?

How do you reach the drive in Linux? Does it mount automatically on boot up? Do you plug and unplug it at random times. Most important, does it have a permanent mount point in Linux, (e.g. /media/usb/)?
