new KDE user - KPackage question

    Using Kubuntu 10.04 and I'm a long-time Gnome user.

When using KPackage, I figured out how to get it to list programs based on search (easy enough) but I could not see how to select random programs from that list. I'm used to Synaptic and its check boxes.

How does KPackage work in terms of "mark for install", "mark for removal", etc? I couldn't seem to get the hang of that. I did successfully install kubuntu-restricted-extras and a couple of other programs, but I did them one at a time because I couldn't figure out the multi-select.

Also KPackage does not seem to provide as much feedback as Synaptic in terms of what's happening or about to happen. Do I need to adjust a setting somewhere?

I have many questions regarding the KDE way of doing things, but will use individual posts for them as has been suggested.

    thanks for the help.

KPackageKit is somewhat of a work in progress. Click on the icon at the right of each entry to toggle install / delete.

You can easily install synaptic and use it instead if you prefer.
