installing KDE

hey guys,

i recently uninstalled KDE as I was having some login issues and now I cant re-install it.

I did make a backup before uninstalling it by using mv .kde .kde_bak

I am assuming I can get my KDE up and running by simply copying the backed-up KDE libraries back to my home directory?

if someone can guide me here...i would GRATELY appreciate it since I have been dealing with this issue for almost 3 days now

obviously im a linux nooob....so need some help here.

Not necessarily. Your backed up .kde directory only contains the settings/configurations for your user - not the programs they belong to. Depending on how/what packages you uninstalled for KDE, you may have removed more than you wanted. Exactly how did you uninstall KDE?

Actually....i removed it from the console session using the following command( i regret however )

sudo aptitude remove kdm

and thats it.

'sudo aptitude remove kdm' removed the following packages:

kdm kubuntu-desktop

Just reinstall kdm:

sudo aptitude install kdm
