On piece of advise I'd like to leave you with. IMHO you should avoid KPackageKit completely, just to save yourself headaches from the numerous problems people have had with it. Don't even let it update your system. Instead choose one of these options:
On piece of advise I'd like to leave you with. IMHO you should avoid KPackageKit completely, just to save yourself headaches from the numerous problems people have had with it. Don't even let it update your system. Instead choose one of these options:
- Perform all updates and package management from the command line with apt-get and apt-cache. This is what I do on Jaunty and Karmic.
- Install Synaptic package manager and use it instead. It comes with a bunch of dependencies, but it is simply the most capable GUI package manager for all the 'buntus right now.
