(solved) Kdesudo dolphin not working in 4.4

I was trying to use kdesudo dolphin to delete a file that was left over after installing ossec hids (which has to be installed as root), but after dolphin opens and will not show any root files. Also when I tried to install a new kdm the file manager would not allow access to any files.

Is there a probelm with root priveledges in the file manager in 4.4?

Bug reported here during RC phase:
      https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+s...do/+bug/506361

So far it's been ignored, but I guess if more people say it affects them it may get looked at.

Old forum topic for a workaround:

OK so it is an issue. I guess I will file a bug report, but I can wait too.

I installed gksu through synaptic and use the following command from the link provided and it worked.

                gksudo dbus-launch dolphin

I don't think it will take long. It's pretty important and I'm seeing it effect a lot of people. I have confidence in the Kubuntu folks.

                        Hey sithlord,

Thanks for enquiring - we can workaround it, but it would be nice to see a fix

Basically it affects any program that uses the file protocol e.g. opening a file in kate/kwrite, loading a colour scheme in system settings - you get the idea.

                        Cheers,

                        Steve

If you haven't already, add the PPA for Rog131 and you can then install his servicemenu-rootactions and you'll be set.

nope it installes fine and looks good ..............but I think it's calling on kdesudo and sense that is broken well you see ware I'm going .................trying to open fstab with the root actions gets the error ..............the process for the file protocol died unexpectedly...................so still nothing.
