Kubuntu 9.10 freezes when i try to install

    Kubuntu 9.10 freezes when i try to install

    I have a dell dimension 8250 with 256mb ram Pentium 4 cpu 2.4ghz. I just freezes at the kubuntu symbol and load bar. Its done this also for ubuntu. I checked the disk and its fine.

    256Mb is about the lowest you can use.

    Which disk are you trying to install from? There are two install disks, the Desktop and the Alternate. The Desktop is a LiveCD and uses a lot of RAM because it is doing two jobs, LiveCD and installing. The Alternate is a straight install and only needs about 64Mb to install.

    Either, increase the amount of RAM,
    or use the Alternate disk,
    or use a lighter distro e.g. Xubuntu.
