    firefox: open with??? (solved)

i use firefox for netsurfing and all. whenever i download any of the file.. say pdf..
it is shown in download bar. when i click on it.. i get dialogue of "open with..." and that window has option of "Choose application" when i click on it, it opens my /home/Document folder.
    (snapshot attached)

how do i associate application to file.. so that it opens automatically from firefox?
and where are the executables of application stored in kubuntu?

P.S.: the default applications are properly associated in system settings

i browsed through the blog.. looks cool
i uninstalled firefox using synaptics and then added the repository:
          ppa:debfx/firefox-kde
          and installed firefox-kde using synaptics..
now i can open files right from the firefox w/o any problem automatically.
and the best part was.. i did not lose any of the browsing history.. i did not even have to type in my passwords again. (i don't get whether ff was completely uninstalled or not.. and if did then how can all browsing history etc. be still intact )

          thanks d4v1dv00

The user configuration files are not removed with an uninstall. So, when you installed firefox-kde, it had access to those files.
