I just bought a new Belkin N+ router and the Belkin Home Base. So far I have been able to install all the software on my Vista machine to attach USB hardrives to my wireless network. I have not been able to find any good information on how to use these hard drives with Kbuntu/Linux. Can anybody point me in the right direction?

Re: Using the Belkin Home Base
do you know the home base's ip address , and/or how it host files from the attached usb devies..(smb, ftp, nfs. etc..) also can you log in to admin the home base, poking around the admin area could provide useful info.

Re: Using the Belkin Home Base
I had never heard of the Belkin Home Base, so I looked it up. The Belkin web site is very explicit about providing interface software ONLY for Windoze and Max. If I were you, I would return the product and tell them that it is unusable because it does not support Linux, (I have done this with regard to a Cisco/Linksys home cable/dsl router). The irony is that (like my router) the device itself probably runs on Linux. I made a fast search of the Belkin support page, but I didn't find anything useful. Since you are MUCH more motivated than I, your results may differ.
Slightly later: The router ought to "just work", though, because i doesn't appear to need any software on the host computer.

Re: Using the Belkin Home Base
I agree with above, routers ought to just work. I guess in this case it is the concept of using the router as a storage device that is causing problems. However any usb hard drive should work on either Vista and Linux and be accessible through your wireless network. The process is just a different one and does not involve a Windows application such as the one you just bought.

Re: Using the Belkin Home Base
I also recently bought a Belkin product, in this case not the Home Base but a wireless N+ router with usb disk support. To get the attached usb storage mounted I followed this howto:

Re: Using the Belkin Home Base
Okay, I was able to log open up the Home Base by using 192.168.2.6 in my browser, I am also able to get to this same page by going to network/BK-HB6b4aa2 (this is what the Home Base is called on the network)
As for other information the admin pages provide typical things like the MAC, default gateway, DHCP Server, Pri and Sec DNS Servers and a WINS server. It also also showed a USB and Wireless sections, I was able to see the hard drive that was plugged into the Home Base but I was not able to access it.
