    Problems after installation.

First of all, thanks for taking the time to read my threat.

Anyways, after running live cd for a while, i enjoyed kubuntu so i decided to take a go at installing, partitioned fined, installed fine, asked me to eject cd and press enter to reboot, yea...no problem, pc reboots and instead of grub or anything else i get 'cannot load operating system'.

so now i cant boot into xp or kubuntu and im at a total loss (very new at linux, so please be nice lol.)

im using the live cd right now to post this and i hope someone can help me so i dont have to do a full format and lose all my files.

    Kind regards,

Hmm, i think this would be a failed grub install. Try to reinstall it:
    Start Konsole
    Then type in:
    sudo grub
root (hdx,y) ----note: this is where the linux partition is, x is hard drive, y is the partition on hard drive x, so 0,1 is the second partition on the first hard drive----
    root (hd0)
    quit

Then reboot and see if you can boot again.

      grub> root (hd2,1)
      root (hd2,1)
Filesystem type is ext2fs, partition type 0x83
      grub> root (hd0)
      root (hd0)
Filesystem type unknown, using whole disk

i get that, is that right?
