Tell me how to Uninstall Kubuntu 9.10??????

I had recently installed kubuntu 9.10 on my desktop.its single boot kubuntu now without XP.

But now i want to go back to XP and dont want Kubuntu.So i want to remove it.

When i put it in XP PRO CD its not booting.

So guys...plzz tell me how to install XP again on my desktop.??

Sounds like you have your bios set to boot from the hard drive first.

Go into your bios settings and change them. Alternatively when you start your machine you will see a message to enable you to change the boot order. When you have done that you can boot from the CD and windows will wipe out your kubuntu installation (and any data you might have on your disk so backup first).

Out of interest, what was it about kubuntu that you could not tolerate?

Just a small piece of advice about XP, if you don't have the SP3 CD don't plug in the computer to the network, download the service packs and install them offline. Safer that way...

well....its not that i cudnt tolerate it.

in fact i really liked the way it looked and the interface and all.

but i am very new to linux and kubuntu didnt make any sense to me.

i wanted to go back to xp and this time i will dual boot with uubuntu.

anyway..can u tell me how to configure a broadband connection in kubuntu?

okay, if you are going to give it another go it makes sense to dual-boot first. It is not wise to jump in with both feet until you know it's what you want.

Ideally you would create your partitions before doing anything i.e restricting each of the 2 OSs to their own partitions. However if you want to keep it simple at this stage you can do 1 of 2 things. With both you will firstly need to install windows. Then you can either install kubuntu as a dual-boot - the key is when partitioning to select the option that offers to resize the windows partition. Once you have installed immediately after the BIOS post, you will see a menu from which you can choose either kubuntu or windows.

Or you can install kubuntu from within windows by running wubi.exe which should be on your live cd. I've never used it but I expect it's much quicker than running the live cd but slower than a native install. However, it might be your best way to evaluate it because if you don't like it I think you can just uninstall it.

Broadband connection? What type of hardware do you have? Most ethernet cards should work out of the box. Wireless can be a little trickier. before you remove kubuntu, open a terminal and type lspci which will tell you your hardware.

On a fast system you'd probably not be able to distinguish between a normal and WUBI installation, so yes it's a good choice for people who want to experiment with (K)ubuntu, the only problem appears that if you really like the system eventually you'd need to reinstall it -- but you could do that when the next version appears to simplify things.

A minor caution: I believe that there have been some people at this site who have reported difficulties with Wubi, that, they claim, were not due to bad CDs. While this also happens on occasion with the normal installation disk, it may be more frequent with Wubi.
