I went into Xkb options and chose a compose key. Now when I hold down that key, I can spell encyclopædia correctly and © things.

Can you please explain where Xkb is? Is it necessary to install xxkb for it?

I run LTS (8.04) so my info doesn't relate to, it seems, anybody else. The reason, however, that I made the "compose key" very big is so that you would google it. Did you?
