    Enable special effects in Karmic

I tried to enable special effects in Kubuntu 9.10.
It told me to check the X configuration file.

I then installed compiz, and enabled all setting in it.
    None of them worked.

Is there any problem with my graphics card drivers?

    (P.S. I use an ATI HD 4650)

(When I try kdesudo compiz, it gives this -
    sp1408@sp1408:~$ kdesudo compiz
    Checking for Xgl: not present.
xset q doesn't reveal the location of the log file. Using fallback /var/log/Xorg.0.log
    Detected PCI ID for VGA:
    Checking for texture_from_pixmap: not present.
    Trying again with indirect rendering:
    Checking for texture_from_pixmap: present.
Checking for non power of two support: present.
    Checking for Composite extension: present.
Checking screen 1Comparing resolution (1366x768) to maximum 3D texture size (4096): Passed.

Re: Enable special effects in Karmic

Hey dude i had kinda of the same prob when i started but i discovered pretty fast that all of the things that compiz can do, or at least most of them, kubuntu already has it integrated in its OS, so there is no need to use compiz and also it might not work cause when u start compiz the Kubuntu ''compiz'' (lets call it like that) is already the one by default, i suppose. So just remove compiz and go to da kick menu, go to system settings, then desktop, then desktop effects, and in the tab of all effects should appear all the options to enable the effects and give them a button to make them work (sorry if i explained bad i mean that for example i want to make my 4 desktops into a cube well i choose that when i press F2 the desktop goes into cube mode; so F2 means effect of cube)

      Hope it helps

either way you will have to install the drivers for you video card first.

@kiraitachi , the "compiz" in kde is called Kwin.
