    kdebase-runtime error [SOLVED]

I was doing my normal update via synaptic when I got this message and a request to report it as a bug, which I did, but it was supposed to have already been fixed. I searched these forums and the work around consensus was to force an over-write which I tried but failed because the file was not in the archives. I also tried various apt-get commands to no avail. Synaptic won't let me update until I get this broken package fixed. I feel like I'm in a catch-22

Could you please run this in konsole and report the output?

    Code:
    sudo apt-get install -f

Then when I tried to force it I got a "no such file in archives" message.

What happens if you try to uninstall kdesudo?

I don't know. I haven't tried that. Will I be exposing myself to more problems, I don't know what kdesudo does?

kdesudo is the graphical window that allows you to enter your password to do administration tasks. According to the error message, that program is now in two different packages. Presumably, if you uninstall kdesudo and then install kdebase-runtim, you'll keep that program anyway.

these issues also have a way of working them selves out after a little bit the offending package will get fixed.. and the issue disappear (not always though)

I was going to uninstall kdesudo but looked at the details and got cold feet. By removing kdesudo I will also be removing kubuntu-desktop (see attach) Does this mean I will lose the GUI and only have the CLI?

kubuntu-desktop is a meta package, meaning it will install all the items needed for the "kubuntu-desktop". how ever removing a meta packages only removes the meta package it self. so you will still have a gui

                    the un-install of kdesudo worked.
                    Thanks

you may want to now reinstall kdesudo if possible.
