Adept not adding installed programs to the menus

Hi, I was under the impression that when a program is installed with adept it is supposed to appear on the menus, is this correct?

As all the programs I installed last night, none of them are in the menus

    Hi,

Well, sometimes you have to do this manually...
    Did you run update-menus ? updatedb ?
    Did you reboot ?

Did the update-db commands work? I did not know about those either. And I HATE rebooting! I'm having this same problem. Sometimes, the new programs show up but most of the time they don't. I just installed Gimp the other day and it's still not there. I will try the update-db commands and see what happens.

Shouldn't have to reboot, sometimes you may need to log out and back in, but the entries should show up, eventully, though I am insure how often it updates itself.

Another quick option is to go to the menu editor, and simply click the save button

Those update-db, etc commands are not found on my Kubuntu system, btw
