    DVD Drives

I have two DVD Drives and I guess they must be mounted,as when I put a DVD Film in a window pops up with Open with video player(DragonPlayer)
    Copy with K3b
    Open with file manager
Do nothing. Should I not have two icons on the desktop telling me that they are there.
As you can tell I am a real NEWBIE I dont mind trying to find the answers to different things but generally the answers to posts are by non newbies and it is very technical jargon.

    Re: DVD Drives

The plasma widget (plasmoid) device notifier: "Shows the recently plugged in devices and notifies the user if a new device is plugged in."

It will show available actions play/rip/whatever... for a device.

No status icons on the desktop.

There is available the plasma widget mountoid > Mountoid:
    Description:
This plasmoid provides a way to mount/unmount devices from fstab (e.g. network shares), show free space and open mount point location in a file manager. It is fully configurable.
    Before you edit, BACKUP !

      Cool widget.

      Hey bobanshir

Somebody tell me if I am wrong on this, I am still fuzzy on mounting:

I beleive the drives are not mounted by default. When you put a disc in the drive, KDE mounts the drive, has a look at the disc, and asks you what you want to do with it.

If you open the Dolphin file manager, on the left it should not show a DVD icon. When you put the disc in the drive a DVD icin should then show on the left, with a little arrow thing on it. If you right click the disc, you will be given the option to eject the disc. This will then unmount the drive.

BTW Always unmount your flash drives before pulling them out. You can do this in Dolphin with a right click on the icon.
