[SOLVED] Getting more frustrated, but it's not Kubuntu...

    good to see its all work out, but as Qqmike says thats the worst connector of all to be broken

      This is a good thread. I just wish it had been here a week ago when I went through this. :P seems weird that I have loaded 4 or 5 versions of kubuntu on this box without problems. but when I went to load karmic I had this problem 3 or 4 times. I didn't make any hardware changes before my karmic load. I did get it by just connecting up the minimum drives needed to load and it worked. I have been reflecting, I am pretty sure that I changed my sata cable sometime in my fit of rage and that made the difference. Thanks to all who participated.

        Ah, shucks...

        I guess I got stuck on Snowhog's advice because it made me eat my words! lol!

        Well, finally eliminated the problem. After saying it was the SATA headers on the motherboard, it turns out that the SATA cables are to blame. I moved everything back yesterday, and the same issue happened. Swapped every SATA cable out, and it worked fine.
