Kubuntu installation, then what?

I've got my system all prepared for the Kubuntu installation that a friend is sending me. Im absolutely new to Linux. I've used Knoppix a little bit, but I want a complete distro. so I hope it gets here soon.

My newb question of the month is: What do I do during or after I install it? Is there any literature I should read? any components I need?

And what the heck is this sudo thing?

You could also check the Kubuntu Docs which are in the system by going to the KHelpCenter ('Help' in the K Menu) and selecting 'Kubuntu Documents'. Which I think is for Breezy only...

I know this is gonna sound like what you're doing already, but...
... keep this forum bookmarked as well as those ones. I found so many answers to questions I had from reading this forum. I learned to upgrade my KDE with help from the people here. And how I needed to make sure to do A before even trying B (ie, make sure I have development packages installed, then try installing downloaded stuff...)
