No sound on most programs (not all) kubuntu 9.10

I get sound from dragon, audio player and system sounds.

No sound from any flash videos in firefox and konqueror, vlc player, and zsnes.

I try to open kmix but it wont come up when i click on it (shows up on task bar then vanish)
I have a dell latitude d820 and this is bugging me.

How do i fix it?

Check all your faders in Kmix too.

check system settings -> multimedia, be sure to use the same device you use for dragon(video playback) for all other types out sound out put (when ur in multimedia you will get what that means.

Guess i needed alsamix. fixed all my sound issues. thanks.
