internal mic dont work

i'm running kubuntu 9.10 on an asus eeepc 1005HA and the internal mic doesnt work. i tried running sudo apt-get install linux-backports-modules-alsa-karmic-generic but it didnt work. when i rebooted the computer all sound output was lost.

for some reason the computer doesnt read the internal mic. i tried running alsamixer and change the input source to int mic but it still didnt work.

anyway im switching to windows 7 if this doesnt work

I had also problems with an internal microphone on my netbook Acer Aspire One D150, but fortunately upgrade to Karmic solved them. As a workaround I used for several months a very cheap external microphone instead, it surprisingly worked.
It's always a chance that next update will solve your problem.
