Karmic Graphics Problem

I up graded to 9.10 from 9.04 and can not get the graphics working on my Toshiba M45 laptop.
The display is either gray/ blank with random horizontal lines or has text four inches high.

If this is a driver problem, can some one tell me how to get the correct driver using recovery mode. Kde graphics mode is unusable.

I have the same issue with my pc. The x-server would not start no matter what I tried.

Think it's a kernel issue but not sure. I would stay with 9.04 for a while and try 9.10 later
