No sound in Flash videos (Firefox, Konqueror) (Kubuntu 9.10 64-bit)

MP3 and videos in Amarok and Dragon do have sound, Flash videos in browsers do not. I googled a lot and found that a lot of people have this problem.

    What i tried:

    - tried to delete flash i had and install the 64-bit alpha release of flash for linux with scripts i found online. none of the scripts worked. so i just installed the version from KPackageKit. i guess it's the one i had right after the OS installation.

    - downloading flash videos with DownloadHelper (firefox plugin) and opening them with Dragon: video is ok, instead of sound i get horrible noise.

    - deleting pulseaudio. some people suggested that. after that the system reported my usb sound card (creative xmod) did not work. then i installed pulseaudio back - got sound card working, sound in amarok and dragon, again no sound in flash.

so what do i do ??

You didn't mentioned if you have PCM slider up in kmix, I hope you have.
You can try to install MediaPlayerConnectivity Plugin for Firefox and maybe you will see and hear videos in an external video player.

        sorry guys i misinformed you

sound in Flash DOES work, but on HDA Intel sound card (built in my motherboard). i use usb-connected Creative Xmod sound card, and in sound system configuration it is preferred everywhere: in music, games, video... etc. everything works but flash.

it appears to be flash sound in kubuntu has problems only with Xmod just wrote to Creative, maybe they'll help.

I have Logitech USB speakers and there is no flash sound with it either. I found that there is also a problem with the sound in VLC with it. Other sounds are OK, even in other video players like Kaffeine and Dragon. There were no problems with USB sound in VLC in Jaunty. So I think that it is maybe more a bug in Kubuntu than in USB sound card or in programs, but I am not sure because VLC is in a new version in Karmic.

try to use 64 flash version. You must first unistall the version you have and after to download the 64 version from here

            http://labs.adobe.com/downloads/flas...r10_64bit.html

unzip the file and the put it to the hiden file .mozilla/plugins in your home.

I installed Ubuntu 9.10 64-bit and it doesn't have this problem. Why? Because there are no sound preferences for music, video, games etc. There is only "output device" box, I choose my Creative Xmod, and everything (including flash) works great. :P So the problem is with Kubuntu sound priorities menu, I think Flash doesn't fall in any of the categories.

So I guess I should bug report.
