Recommend me a media player!

Hello there. Just set up Kubuntu, and am still trying to get the hang of it. One thing that I really need, however, is a good media player.

I loved Winamp 5 a lot. I'd like something equivilent to that. All I know of is "Beep Media Player" and "XMMS". Both look quite similar to winamp, but behave differently. I don't like XMMS's menus. Beep has potential, but still lacks a few things


I'm looking for:
+simple, minimalistic, oldschool winamp layout
+ability to play music, as well as video(and does a good job of it)
+has a tray icon

So what I want is either a media player that has all that, or a way to configure beep to behave like that.

Hi,

Did you try vlc ?

My choices:
music = xmms (extremely powerful with jack support)
video = kaffeine (or mplayer)

I use Amarok (good for large collections because of filtering) and Totem (or kaffeine) and mplayer for streaming content in Firefox.
