    No sound in browser

    Hello!
I don't have sound in browser (mozilla, konquror). Youtube video is rolling but the is no sound. I have no problem with sound in videos which are on hard drive. I have installed all the codecs and everything (kubuntu-restricted-extras...).

I've been using this method to make sound work, but it works just until restart:
    "terminal: sudo alsa force-reload "

After restart there is no sound again. Does anyone know what is the problem here?
Please, help me fix sound in my browser permanently.

Maybe it is not the case, but have you PCM sound switched on? Speaker icon in system tray - button mixer - PCM slider up
Kubuntu 16.04 on two computers and Kubuntu 17.04 on DELL Latitude 13

Sorry to hijack with no help, but I have the same issue. Sound and video works perfectly in all other areas.

I get video but no audio on all browser play back. I have changed plugins - installed vnc - run sudo alsa force-reload, and still nothing.

      Anybody? ....

do either of you have pulseaudio installed? , try setting a different sink/source. check the pulseaudio manager for your sinks. and sources., if you find that works you might want to consider removing pulseaudio unless you need it for some certian app.

I'm having the same problem, and I have removed pulseaudio and using alsa. System sounds OK, sound OK in applications, just no sound in browser. Very perplexing. It was working fine up until today. It does not work now.

              Re: No sound in browser

The problem for me is in 32 bit Karmic Ubuntu, I am going to reboot to 64 bit Karmic Kubuntu and see if the problem exists there. I'll post back in a few minutes.

                Re: No sound in browser

This is interesting. In 64bit Karmic Kubuntu the sound is working fine. And I have pulseaudio installed here. Same machine, so it's not a hardware issue.

                    Re: No sound in browser

I already checked that PCM is 100% and not muted. And, note the problem is only in the browser, other apps are working.

                      Re: No sound in browser

Please describe exactly what you do in the browser that results in 'no sound.' Are you navigating to a website - YouTube or ... - that has an audio track, or what? Audio 'within the browser' would normally be handled by a suitable plug-in - Flash, Java, ... - and is not a browser 'native' support feature. Or am I mis-understanding the problem here?

                        Re: No sound in browser

Using Firefox, opening a web page with multimedia content, does not matter whether it is flash or another plugin handling the content, no sound. Cannot listen to streaming radio. Can see video but have no audio when opening video sites. Everything was working yesterday. Not working today. Probably related to an update. It will probably fix itself in a day or two. Everything in Karmic Kubuntu 64bit with pulseaudio is working. Problem is in Karmic32 with no pulseaudio, using alsa. This two OS's are on the same computer. I am going to reboot now back into 32 bit and see if I have the problem in my Virtual XP. Will post back soon.

                            Re: No sound in browser

I seemed to have more than one problem. Reinstalling the flash plug-in got that working again, but it seems that my removal of pulseaudio left some of my other plugins incorrectly configured. They are still trying to use pulse which does not respond of course.
